Mondow Inc. ("Mondow," "we," "us," or "our") provides the Mondow website at mondow.world, our applications, and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. It works alongside our Terms of Service.

Mondow is designed for children, so protecting children's privacy is central to how we operate. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and applicable state privacy laws. Only a parent or legal guardian can create an account, and a child uses the Service through that adult's account and with their permission.

1. A note to parents

Because Mondow is for children, we build for data minimization. We do not require a child to provide personal information to use the creative features, and we design the experience so that the artificial intelligence does not ask a child for personal details such as their full name, address, school, or location. You, the parent or guardian, set up and control the account, decide what your child can do, and can review or delete your child's information at any time. Where the law requires it, we obtain your verifiable consent before collecting personal information from your child.

2. Information we collect

From you, the parent or guardian. When you create and manage an account, we collect information such as your name, your email address, and a password. If you subscribe or buy a printed book, we collect billing and payment information, which is processed by our third-party payment provider. We also collect any messages you send us.

From your child. The main thing a child provides is the creative material they make, such as the words they write and the characters, stories, and worlds they invent, which we keep as their Worldbook. A child may include personal details in what they write, so we apply filtering and human review to reduce that, and we ask parents to supervise. We do not ask a child for personal information in order to use the Service.

Automatically. When the Service is used, we collect limited technical information such as a device or app identifier, general activity within the Service, and similar data, using cookies or similar technologies. We use this to operate, secure, and maintain the Service, which COPPA permits as support for the internal operations of the Service.

We do not knowingly collect more personal information from a child than is reasonably necessary for them to use the Service.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and operate the Service, including generating stories and illustrations, maintaining the Worldbook, and saving what your child creates.
Process your subscription and fulfill printed book orders.
Communicate with you about your account, your child's use, and support.
Keep the Service safe and secure, including filtering content and preventing misuse.
Maintain, analyze, and improve the Service, using de-identified or aggregated information where we can.

We do not use a child's personal information to serve behavioral or targeted advertising, and we do not sell a child's personal information.

4. How we obtain a parent's consent

Where COPPA requires verifiable parental consent, we use a method reasonably designed to confirm that the person giving consent is the child's parent or guardian. Depending on how you use the Service, this may include confirming a payment card transaction, or sending a notice to your email address or mobile number and confirming your response. Before we ask for your consent, we will tell you what we collect from your child, how we use it, and whether we share it. You can refuse to give consent, and you can revoke your consent at any time by contacting us, in which case we will stop collecting personal information from your child and will delete what we have collected, subject to the limits described below.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share a child's personal information for third-party targeted advertising. We share information only in these ways:

With service providers. We use trusted companies that help us run the Service, such as the providers of the artificial intelligence technology that generates stories and illustrations, hosting and infrastructure providers, our payment processor, and the vendor that prints and ships books. They may use the information only to perform services for us.
For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of a child, you, us, or others.
In a business transfer. If Mondow is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and it will remain subject to this Privacy Policy.

You can consent to our collection and use of your child's information without consenting to any disclosure that is not integral to providing the Service, and we will not require you to agree to that kind of disclosure as a condition of your child using the Service.

6. Your choices and your rights as a parent

As a parent or guardian, you can, at any time:

Review the personal information we have collected from your child.
Ask us to delete your child's personal information.
Refuse to allow any further collection or use of your child's information, and revoke your consent.

To do any of these, contact us at privacy@mondow.world or use the controls in your account. To protect your child, we may ask you to verify your identity before we act on a request. If you ask us to delete information that your child needs in order to use the Service, we may have to close the account.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, such as providing the Service to your child and keeping their Worldbook available to you, and for a reasonable period afterward. We follow a written data retention policy, we do not keep children's personal information indefinitely, and we delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed or when you ask us to delete it, except for limited copies we may need to keep to meet a legal obligation or to protect the security of the Service.

8. How we protect information

We maintain a written information security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, appropriate to its sensitivity and to the size and nature of our activities. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect your and your child's information and to limit who can access it.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember settings, keep it secure, and understand how it is used. For a children's service, we use these mainly to support the internal operations of the Service. You may be able to control some of these technologies through your device or browser settings, though parts of the Service may not work properly without them.

10. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to request that we delete or correct it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information or its sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly do either for any child. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact us at privacy@mondow.world. We handle children's information in accordance with COPPA as described above.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or share your child's personal information, we will notify you and, where the law requires it, obtain your consent again. The "Last updated" date above shows when this Privacy Policy was last changed.
